The body of a woman was discovered Saturday afternoon in a dwelling in the borough of Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie, in Montreal.
Police said they were called in at around 1:45 p.m. following a 911 call from someone who was worried they hadn’t heard from the victim in a while.
During their visit to the apartment on rue Chambord, the patrol officers found the body of a woman. His death was confirmed on the spot, said agent Julien Lévesque, spokesperson for the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).
A man who was there was arrested by the police, who questioned him in an attempt to understand what happened.
Investigators were still swimming in mystery on Sunday to try to explain the death of the woman, which could just as easily be natural or of a criminal nature, the spokesperson suggested. The case is considered a suspicious death.
An autopsy of the body and the police investigation should make it possible to understand what happened over the next few days.
