Strike in schools, your struggle is also ours!

Dear school staff members, you are starting a strike movement. As usual, the government will say that you are attacking parents because your pressure tactics are forcing us to find alternative solutions to take care of our children.

But this temporary inconvenience is nothing compared to the daily reality you experience: overcrowded classes, a lack of resources to meet the needs of all students, including those identified as disabled or with learning difficulties and adaptation, and increased administrative tasks.

As many of you are considering leaving your profession because you are out of breath and powerless, we would like to express our understanding of your pressure tactics.

The crisis that is shaking the education sector affects us daily. When Minister Bernard Drainville states, faced with the shortage of qualified teachers, that he will provide “one adult per class”, we are collectively shocked and extremely concerned.

We are at your side and we will remain so as long as the government does not take its responsibilities and continues to jeopardize the future of Quebec children. We believe that it is by acting together that we can demand concrete measures to put the public education system back on its feet, which is no longer fulfilling its promises and which is crumbling under the weight of your responsibilities.

Your struggle is also ours.
