Feel guilty for living in peace?

Who can really say that the warlike violence that the media continually presents to us does not fall under the umbrella of their indifference? Nobody: we are all disgusted to see that the authorities succeed in justifying the assassination of women, children, old people and men in the street, innocent victims, done without distinction with soldiers from opposing camps in their political ideology , economic and financial.

“Disgusted” is a euphemism for a word that has not yet been invented to describe the horror that only humans can create.

From the comfort of our Western living spaces, we watch helplessly as these men tear apart other humans in the name of reciprocal, just and legitimate revenge! The farce has no greater stupidity than this crass and lying justification: the right to defend oneself! Is it not rather an illegitimate right to take revenge that even the most ferocious beasts do not even feel?

Humans are truly capable of great stupidities that no beast will ever be able to do. Yes, humans are simultaneously divine and diabolical in grandeur. An incredible creature in which good and evil coexist in harmony! In harmony !

Are we really all of this race of world? Are we really all of this race of monsters who can say “I love you” while thrusting this bayonet into the very heart of another’s life? Are hatred and love of others thus married in all of us? Is this what it means to be human? Is this what it means to be human?

Is peace achieved at the cost of permanent war between us all? This is the super illogicality that we have been asked to believe for centuries: “If you want peace, prepare for war” (“ Si vis pacem, para bellum ) ! What a mistake to have believed this maxim and to still believe in it! Do we call this evolution? Oh ! Evolution is very slow!

I am starting, or rather I am starting again, to feel guilty for living in peace, embarrassed not to kill my neighbor or someone different from me, to believe in this charter of rights and freedoms of Quebec, to think that love is possible between people of good will, and may peace be with us, etc.

Let the mafias make the law of the strongest while in my smallness, I remain silent to protect the peace: will this way of doing things ever end? The umbrella of my indifference begins to crack and my revolt seeks a way to save my world.

All of you reading this, do you feel like me: guilty for living in peace?
