streamers, video games, cosplay, drag queens… A look back at this unmissable event organized for the first time in France!

After Berlin and Amsterdam, the third European edition of TwitchCon took place in Paris. This unmissable event, dedicated to Amazon’s streaming platform, which has more than 31 million visitors on average per day, marks the minds of fans who come in droves from all over the world every year.

Well established in the media universe, Twitch offers lives of all kinds: video games, painting, sport, politics or even cooking… The content is numerous and very often qualitative. Some lives even present themselves as real shows TV: this is particularly the case for spectacular events organized by French videographers, such as ZeratoR and its ZEvent (a charity event), Squeezie and its Grand Prix Explorer (a car race) or even Aminematue and its Eleven All Star (a football between French and Spanish streamers). In total, more than 3 million viewers closely followed these shows that have become iconic on the Internet.

But dating in the real world is always better. It is to bring together in the same place the different communities and content creators that Twitch has decided to create this annual convention. After 8 years of creation in the United States, TwitchCon is making its grand premiere in the capital. Here is everything you need to remember from this first French edition.

A human encounter with his favorite streamers

Like every year, TwitchCon offers its fans the opportunity to meet the most influential streamers on the platform: Ponce, Pokimane, EnjoyPhoenix or Joueur du Grenier… Many videographers from around the world have come together to participate in competitions, sessions signings or colorful shows.

It was a pleasure to receive @Frederic_Molas at #TwitchConParis for a Quiz Show at Glitch Théâtre! Congratulations to @Shisheyu and @Pressea_, definitely the best today! pic.twitter.com/FM6fy5lXyD — Twitch FR (@TwitchFR) July 9, 2023

Significant events… and inclusive

During this weekend, many remarkable events took place, such as cosplay contests, musical performances in livecreative workshops, competitionse-sport or some shows of drag queen. Indeed, diversity, accessibility and inclusiveness are priorities for the American platform. For many years, Twitch has made progress in terms of the inclusion of female streamers, deaf people and even LGBTQIA + users, by moderating more cats or by offering subtitle extensions, for example.

Gaming… but not only

During TwitchCon, many debates and conferences took place around various and varied themes, ranging from podcasting (with StudyTme), to cyberbullying (with KyriaTV), to dubbing (with Donald Reignoux and Brigitte Lecordier) or mental health (GeekyCassie). These two days of convention made it possible to show the wealth and variety of content offered on and by the platform.

It’s almost the last of the season, it’s a bit StreamVF but we’re going to talk about dubbing with @LecordierB and @KelyanBlanc live from TwitchCon! An edition criticized for its price

A successful first edition for many Internet users, but strongly criticized in view of its high price: €75 for one day, €125 for a two-day pass. A significant sum to spend for many young users of the platform. For comparison, the Paris Games Week (another convention on video games) offers tickets at 20 €.
