Despite an incandescent Parc des Princes on Tuesday evening, May 7, Paris-Saint-Germain missed its appointment with history by being eliminated by Borussia Dortmund in the semi-finals second leg of the Champions League (0-1, 0-1 in the first leg). An elimination which plunges the supporters, once again, into distress. The disappointment was enormous at the final whistle, after having believed in it until the end. Some supporters are even shocked and defeated. “I’m fed up, I’m disappointed, it’s always the same thing. I can’t even speak anymore,” laments this supporter questioned as he leaves the Parc des Princes. “I’m going crazy, I can’t stand this club anymore. I feel disgust.”

If PSG lacked the bite and madness to ignite the match, luck was not on their side, with four posts hit last night, six in total in the double confrontation. A reason to say that“we were rubbish”according to this supporter who came to watch the match on the Grands Boulevards in Paris. “Four posts in this match, we wake up five minutes before the end, it’s not normal”adds one of his friends.

“PSG is not mentally at the level for these deadlines.”

This glaring lack of success at this level of the competition cannot be forgiven, according to Joël who replays the match in the street with his friends. “There are only attempts, there is not the success that the big clubs have”, he analyzes. “We feel that on big occasions, the players don’t have the same calm as other teams, and that shows with the posts, the crossbars, the technical errors,” adds Joël, who deplores that “These are details, but it’s always the same thing.”

Kylian Mbappé “non-existent”

Another reason for the disappointment of the supporters is also the missed match of Kylian Mbappé. The striker did not weigh in on this semi-final, either on the outward leg in Germany or on the return leg in Paris. “We didn’t see him, he was almost non-existent in the first half, no deep calls”laments a spectator, who hoped for better while Kylian Mbappé played his last match in the European Cup with PSG.

And yet, the supporters were confident: a favorable draw, a Dortmund team that was winnable on paper. The disappointment is all the greater for Antoine. “Honestly, we really believed in it, but it wasn’t enough. We’re going to take it and get back into it.”

It’s not easy to be a PSG supporter on Tuesday evening in the streets of the capital. “We suffer every year, we will wait another 12 months to have a Champions League. We no longer have the smile we had on the way out,” still regrets this supporter. They had however planned a party on the Champs-Élysées in the event of victory, but instead “let’s go back to sleep, we’ll see next year.”
