Stoneham and Tewkesbury | A man died in a maple grove while felling trees

(Montreal) A man in his fifties died Friday after a tree fell on him in a maple grove in Stoneham-et-Tewkesbury, in the Capitale-Nationale region.


Emergency services were contacted around 10pm on Friday evening regarding a man who had not returned from work as usual.

Police officers from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) then began searching in a wooded area of ​​Stoneham-et-Tewkesbury, near rue Jacques-Cartier Nord, in a maple grove. The SQ dog handler was called in to assist in the search.

The police finally found the victim during the night. His death was pronounced at the scene of the event.

“Everything seems to indicate that the man was working on site on the maple grove to fell trees, then he died after falling on top of a tree. Everything indicates that it was an accidental death,” explained Stéphane Tremblay, spokesperson for the SQ.

An investigation is underway in collaboration with the Coroner’s Office.
