Ten years after the death of Éric Charden, a compilation of the successes of the mythical duo Stone and Charden comes out. The public easily identified with this French couple.

Stone and Charden were one of the legendary duos of the 70s, with their own style. The French quickly identified with the happy songs of the couple. In 1965, Stone was elected miss “beatnick” in the Bus Palladium box, in Pigalle. She is noticed by Charden and the two marry. The singers, who continue to perform on their own, are led to form a duo somewhat by chance. “We don’t really remember who came up with the idea that Eric [Charden] make a voice”remembers the singer Stone.

After a first success, the Stone and Charden duo formed to never leave the hit parade, with their hits like “L’avventura”, “Made in Normandie” or “Laisse aller la musique”. Other duos follow in their wake, such as Sheila and Ringo or even Johnny Hallyday and Sylvie Vartan. “For the French, Stone and Charden, it’s average France, it’s the typical couple”, explains Jean-Pierre Pasqualini, director of programs at Melody TV. After the divorce from Stone and Chardentheir duo stopped in the mid-70s.
