The Stellantis group, to which the Peugeot, Citroën and Fiat brands belong, is opening its dealerships to models “made in China”.
Leapmoter, the fifteenth brand of the Stellantis group, will soon be on French roads. This small electric model, costing just 15,000 euros, could find its place in the group’s dealerships from September 2023. What do French consumers think? “I always prefer our French brands”confides one buyer, while another is more open: “If it’s a solid car, no worries.”
China entered the electric race ten years early. Their technology is now advanced, and their prices unbeatable. After-sales service outside their territory, on the other hand, leaves something to be desired. The partnership of the Chinese Leapmoter with the Stellantis group could be an asset for the consumer. “They will be able to benefit from different points of sale and Sellantis network points, something that is not offered by Chinese manufacturers who arrive alone in Europe”explains Éric Espérance, automotive industry expert.
Chinese cars already represent 3% of the European automobile market, with an increase of 79% over one year.
