Monday March 25, 13 Heures takes you to Périgord (Dordogne), where women have decided to shake up preconceived ideas. All are over 50 years old, and live in a very small village of 600 inhabitants lost in the countryside. Most of them didn’t know each other, but one day one of them had a daring idea: to start a football team. The team now has 28 players, with an average age of 63.

Motivated residents

At almost 70 years old, Joëlle Mayer has all the skills of a professional footballer. Converted to football a few months ago, she looks forward to each training session like a treat. “It brings back childhood memories”, she rejoices as she puts on her outfit. Their coach, Karine Van den Eynde, trains the players twice a week. Claudia Carton knows the rules and supports her teammates.
