Lanaudière | A man seriously injured in a collision in Joliette

(Joliette) Authorities fear for the life of a motorist hit by another car Friday afternoon in the town of Joliette, in the Lanaudière region, said the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).


The victim, a man in his 30s, was taken to hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

According to initial information, around 3:45 p.m., emergency services went to Route 158 near the intersection with Route 131, in Joliette, following a collision, indicated Ève Brochu-Joubert, spokesperson for the SQ.

“A vehicle traveling on 158 eastbound did not stop as it approached the intersection and collided with several vehicles,” said Mr.me Brochu-Joubert.

The driver was arrested for driving while impaired by alcohol, says the SQ. Blood samples were taken at the hospital, where he was taken to treat minor injuries.

Several of the people in the other vehicles involved in the collision had minor injuries, but none were transported to hospital.

Collision scene reconstructionists and an investigator are on site, said the SQ.
