It’s official: The hugely successful “Squid Game” TV series will be back for a second season on Netflix, although most shows in South Korea usually only last one season.
Due to the worldwide success of the South Korean series, its creator and director said viewers gave him little choice.
“It’s in my head right now. I’m in the planning process right now, ”Hwang Dong-hyuk said at a red carpet party for the show on Monday.
“But I think it’s too early to say when and how it’s going to happen. But I promise you this: (the main character) Gi-hun will be back and he will do something for the world. “
In “The Squid Game”, people have such a need for money that they agree to participate in children’s games in a schoolyard, while candidates are gradually eliminated from the competition – literally eliminated, very explicitly on the screen.
This “dystopian survival drama” is said to have become Netflix’s biggest instant hit. This success was accompanied by worldwide recognition of its actors and actresses.
