On the diplomatic front, talks between Ukraine and Russia progressed on Tuesday, March 29. The positions of the two camps are becoming clearer and a meeting between the two presidents would be possible.
Russians and Ukrainians were face to face at the negotiating table on Tuesday, March 29. Both sides claim to have taken a step forward. Ukraine demands quid pro quos on its security: that Russia opposes neither an international agreement on its protection nor its membership of the European Union, hitherto the object of intense tensions. Ukrainian negotiators ensure that “enough documents have been drawn up to allow the meeting of the presidents of Ukraine and the Russian Federation”.
