Several center-right mayors, led by that of Nice, Christian Estrosi, will make proposals to Emmanuel Macron in mid-May, according to information from France Inter from concordant sources. An initiative in response to the call launched Monday, April 17 by the President of the Republic during his speech on television, underlines the entourage of the elected representative of Nice, at the head of the committee of mayors of the Horizons party, component of the presidential majority.

“I am appealing to all the forces of action and good will: our mayors, our elected officials, our political forces, our trade unions… I intend to involve them better, by relaunching new coalitions and alliances from May, on the basis solid foundations of the National Refoundation Council, as close as possible to the field”indeed declared the Head of State during his first speech since he enacted the pension reform.

“His approach is based on the experience of local executives, on the front line on migration issues”, boasts the entourage of Christian Estrosi, also number two of Horizons. If it finds an outlet today, with this call from Emmanuel Macron, it actually goes back “several months”. The mayor of La Baule (Loire-Atlantique), Franck Louvrier, or even of Saint-Germain-en-Laye (Yvelines), Arnaud Péricard, contribute to this reflection.

“It’s time to trust the mayors”says Arnaud Péricard to France Inter, when Franck Louvrier puts forward a track: “Why not facilitate certain regularizations in sectors which are struggling to recruit?”, he asks. A relative of Christian Estrosi imagines him “generalize the provision of municipal buildings to compensate for the lack of places in detention centers”.
