Canada announced the closure of its airspace to Russian planes on Sunday morning.

“Effective immediately, Canadian airspace is closed to all Russian aircraft operators. We will hold Russia responsible for its unprovoked attacks on Ukraine,” Federal Transport Minister Omar Alghabra said on his Twitter account.
Canada is following in the footsteps of several countries, mainly in Europe. After eastern states like Poland, western countries have also decided to close their airspace to Russia, including France and Germany.
This new measure adds to an already well-stocked sanctions package by Canada, which has also taken economic retaliation measures against Russia and its leaders, in addition to approving financial, material and armament assistance for the ‘Ukraine.
