Patrick Mignola, the president of the MoDem deputies in the National Assembly, was the guest of franceinfo, Sunday May 1. He answered questions from Jules de Kiss and Jean-Jérôme Bertolus.
Revaluation of the minimum wage: “The social minimums must follow”
While the Smic is experiencing an automatic increase of 2.65% this Sunday, Patrick Mignola wants “when we increase wages, we also increase social minima” in order to avoid injustice. He estimates that “wages have not increased enough for three years” and that this led “anger especially in the working classes and in the social classes”.
The president of the MoDem deputies regrets that “in the collective agreements there are people who are affected below the minimum wage and others who receive 5 to 10% [de plus] and it would be particularly unfair if they were not affected” by these increases. Patrick Mignola says he is in favor of “a social and wage conference” and not “no doubt that the social partners will agree to do so”.
Legislative: do not do like “the apparatchiks of the left”
Less than two months before the legislative elections, Patrick Mignola calls for discussions “between all the families of the majority”while maintaining “priority to outgoing deputies”. According to him, “we must not think like the apparatchiks of the left are doing”. The MP for Savoie believes that his counterparts elected in 2017 “have been good deputies”and pleads during this new legislative election for an arbitration between the different movements of the majority “if on the ground it rubs”.
Asked about the ongoing negotiations between La France insoumise, Europe Ecology-The Greens, the Socialist Party, the Communist Party and the NPA, Patrick Mignola believes that this operation is a “OPA” led by Jean-Luc Mélenchon. “He is making the union of the left a lark’s pie”he complains.
