The fashion world was shaken once again this week by bad news! Jean-Marc Gaucher, president and owner of the Repetto brand, specializing in Repetto ballerinas, died on Tuesday May 9, 2023 in Paris, at the age of 70, the family announced in a press release on Thursday May 11. “It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden death of Jean-Marc. Jean-Marc was a lover of life. He lived it with passion, talent and all his visionary qualities”said his wife in the press release.
Several personalities paid tribute to him, in particular Coralie Barbier. Stromae’s wife posted, in story, a black and white portrait of the late French entrepreneur with these words: “Rest in peace Jean-Marc Gaucher… it was an honor to learn by your side“.
The former CEO of Reebok France and vice-president of Reebok International had the dance shoe brand created in 1947 by Rose Repetto, then in serious financial difficulty, in 1999. “Driven by the desire to promote French excellence, Jean-Marc Gaucher has enabled Repetto to once again become a successful company, essential in the luxury sector and hailed for its international performance”wrote the company today managed by his daughter Charlotte Gaucher-Holmann, deputy general manager and Laurence Lévy, general manager.
Sudden stop of the Stromae tour
This sad news comes a few days after the total stoppage of Stromae’s tour. “Unfortunately, today I have to accept that the time of rest and remission will be longer than I imagined”he confessed in a press release sent to theAFP. “It is therefore with immense regret that I will not be able to honor my promise and that I am announcing the end of the Multitude tour.”
