Seine-Maritime: residents of an nursing home put on ice skates again
Seine-Maritime: residents of an nursing home put on ice skates again – (FRANCE 2)
Every Wednesday, a few residents of the Les Hautes Bruyères UNIVI nursing home in Bonsecours (Seine-Maritime) break the ice on the ice rink. “It’s the pleasure of flying away,” relishes Jeannine, 95 years old.
Jeannine was barely 20 years old when she put on ice skates for the last time. She rediscovered the joys of skating, 75 years later, in the company of her granddaughter. “It’s the pleasure of sliding, of flying, of thinking about nothing”confides the 95-year-old resident at the Les Hautes Bruyères UNIVI nursing home in Bonsecours (Seine-Maritime). Every Wednesday, Jeannine and some residents of the establishment enjoy the ice rink in Cléon (Seine-Maritime).
The desired sensation of speed
An 86-year-old man is on almost every trip. Above all, he is looking for speed. “I think if we had a race, we would win without any problem”, he says. With Tony Zeghni, the facilitator and leader of the project, the octogenarian is not disappointed. “If I were in their place, I would like to feel the wind caress my face and feel the impression of speed. It is an exceptional activity, in the sense that it is possible to take all our residents along”explains the host.
