This Thursday, February 22, 2024, a warning of class 3 cyclone came into force in Mauritius. The authorities notably issued this alert due to tropical storm Eleanor which seems to have experienced a strong intensification in recent hours.
Plaisance airport was closed around 7:30 a.m., leading to the suspension of flights to and from the island. A measure which aims to ensure the safety of passengers and airport staff in the face of the imminent threat of the cyclone. Island residents, like tourists, are urged to remain vigilant and carefully follow the instructions of local authorities.
“Prospective passengers are advised to contact their respective airlines for further information on the status of their flights and not to travel to the airport”indicates in particular the airport in a press release while specifying “his intention to resume activities as soon as possible“.

Radical change of atmosphere
On vacation in Mauritius for a week, Giuseppa, Paga and their daughter Giorgia are therefore confined to the hotel for the next four days. “Canceled flight we are in Class 3 cyclone”wrote the influencer on her Instagram account before congratulating herself on being “a far-sighted mother”. “Always take more milk, more of everything, it’s always good because we only have a flight in 4 days”, she added while sharing a photo of her baby sleeping peacefully beside her.
Paga, for his part, preferred to put online a video of the “approaching cyclone“. Images which demonstrate that the heavenly panorama they enjoyed in recent days has given way to chaos. Hoping that the couple can indeed reach Marseille next week.
