The text of the immigration bill has been examined in the Senate since Monday. Questioned on Franceinfo channel 27, the parliamentarian was optimistic about an agreement with the right.

While the debates around the project of immigration law started in the Senateis it possible to find a compromise with the right? “I think it is possible and I hope that there will be a text on the law to come out of the Senate at the end of the debate, at the end of the week”responded Monday November 6 on franceinfo Senator Renaissance of the Côte-d’Or, François Patriarchy.

Article 3 provides for granting a one-year renewable residence permit for undocumented workers in sectors with a labor shortage. Although he claims not to know the exact number of people affected each year, François Patriat believes that “20,000 would perhaps be a figure that one might consider plausible”. “It’s the professions in tension that will tell us. It’s catering, it’s construction, it’s accommodation…”he adds.

No risk of “a draft”

For François Patriat, “he is about allowing people who have been in France for more than three years, who speak French [et] who can justify eight months of work in the last year to have a document for one year renewable”. He doesn’t believe in risks “with a rush of air”as Bruno states Retailleauleader of the Republican senators. “If he presents his amendment to delete article 3, I think he is in the minority in the hemicycle.” THE senator advocates for a rewriting of the article.
