REM | Service resumes after third shutdown in as many days

(Montreal) The Réseau expresse métropolitain (REM) announced around 7:15 a.m. Wednesday the resumption of service, in both directions.

Shortly before 7 a.m., the REM website reported service stops in the direction of Central Station, in Montreal, as well as in the direction of Brossard, in Montérégie.

The cause of these service interruptions has not been communicated.

In the event of an interruption of the REM lasting more than 20 minutes during peak hours, buses must be deployed as quickly as possible by the REM partners. Audible and visual messages had to be transmitted on board cars and at network stations.

Last Monday, dozens of passengers from the Réseau express métropolitain were trapped in carriages for more than two hours while the train service linking downtown Montreal to Brossard was down during rush hour. A computer failure was the cause.

Outages also occurred on Tuesday.
