Reactor number 2 at the Chinon power plant restarted on Tuesday, October 26

Reactor number 2 at the Chinon power plant restarted on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 and is again connected to the national electricity grid. The reactor was automatically shut down on October 21 due to the automatic triggering of a protection system. EDF specifies that “the teams carried out the necessary investigations to restart the reactor and observed a mechanical breakage on the stem of this valve, which was replaced”. The operator specifies that this judgment had no real impact on the safety of the installations, the safety of the personnel and the environment and was the subject of discussions with the French Nuclear Safety Authority.

From now on, production units 2, 3 and 4 are connected to the national electricity grid. Unit 1 has been in scheduled shutdown for maintenance since September 18, 2021.2 at the Chinon power plant
