The ruins of San Ignacio Mini

San Ignacio Mini is one of the missions that the Jesuits established in the northeast of the country in the 17the and in the XVIIIe century. It was partially destroyed after the departure of the religious order and its ruins were rediscovered in 1897. They have become a major tourist destination. In 1984, UNESCO designated San Ignacio Mini and three other missions as World Heritage Sites.

The Colon Theater is located in the heart of the capital.

The acoustics of the Colon Theater are such that it is considered one of the best opera houses in the world, along with La Scala in Milan and the Paris Opera. Inaugurated in 1908, it is recognized for its gilding and its eclectic style. It hosted renowned artists like Enrico Caruso, Maria Callas, Luciano Pavarotti, Vaslav Nijinsky, Rudolf Nureyev and Herbert von Karajan.

Aconcagua, a popular summit for mountaineers

Aconcagua is the dominant peak of this country, but also of the whole continent. It rises to 6962 m above sea level in a rather arid region. Its ascent is not technically difficult, but it can be perilous due to the strong winds that can be found near the summit and the sudden changes in temperature that can occur.

La Boca, a colorful district of the capital

La Boca is one of the most picturesque neighborhoods in the capital of this country. Tourists flock there to admire its colorful facades and explore the Caminito, a street where local artists exhibit their works. Many inhabitants have Italian origins and the district even declared its independence, very briefly, in 1882.
