Quebecois expressions in comics

Hey, here’s an unusual collaboration: the Trésor de la langue française au Québec (TLFQ) research group is teaming up with around twenty local cartoonists to highlight typically Quebecois expressions.

The initiative highlights the 50th anniversary of the TLFQ and also the current excitement of Quebec comics. In short, it’s a two for one.

Page after page, artists like Iris Boudreau, Bach, Cab, André-Philippe Côté, Siris, Jean-Paul Eid and, of course, the essential Michel Rabagliati illustrate in one page expressions like “Y aller aux toasts”, “ Get your donut”, “Have your helmet full”, etc.

Each of the expressions is also expertly explained. The comic coordination of Language by the band was entrusted to Michel Giguère, expert on 9e art.
