Production of the final season of ‘Stranger Things’ delayed

The fans of Stranger Things will have to wait longer than expected to see the final season of their favorite series. The creators of the Netflix saga are suspending production in solidarity with the authors on strike in Hollywood.

“The writing doesn’t stop when filming starts,” Matt and Ross Duffer, aka the Duffer Brothers, tweeted last weekend.

“While we are excited to begin production with our amazing cast and crew, it is not possible during this strike,” they add on the official Twitter account of the authors of Stranger Things. We hope that a fair deal will be reached soon so that we can all get back to work. Until then – again and again. #wgastrong.”

The creative twins refer to the American authors’ union strike launched on May 2.

The date of resumption of filming as well as that of the release of this last chapter on Netflix are still unknown. This means a new significant gap between seasons. We remember that the second had been launched a year after the first (2016), and that there had been a wait of almost three years between parts 3 and 4. The fourth season, broadcast in 2022, had been divided in two parts and included episodes lasting from 64 to 150 minutes.

In early 2022, Netflix confirmed that the fifth season of Stranger Things would be the last. The author duo was already working on a spin-off (a work derived from the universe of Stranger Things) and an animated series set in the same world as Eleven, Mike, Will, Max and Dustin before the strike.

The hashtag #wgastrong was created in support of the Writers Guild of America, the union of American screenwriters. This one fights for the transparency of the number of streamersan increase in the minimum wage and protections against mini-rooms and the use of artificial intelligence.
