Liberal leadership candidate Charles Milliard has received the support of two former ministers in Philippe Couillard’s government.
They are Jean D’Amour (former Minister Delegate for Maritime Affairs) and Lucie Charlebois (former Minister Delegate for Youth Protection and Public Health). The two former elected officials will be co-chairs of the campaign of the former CEO of the Fédération des chambres de commerce du Québec.
The information, first reported by Radio-Canada, was confirmed in a press release from Mr. Milliard published on Facebook on Tuesday.
The two former ministers also sat on the party’s revival committee which submitted its report in October 2023.
For the moment, Charles Milliard is the only confirmed candidate in the Liberal race with the former mayor of Montreal, Denis Coderre.
Federal Transport Minister Pablo Rodriguez continues to keep the suspense going as to whether he will run for the leadership.
The mayor of Victoriaville, Antoine Tardif, is also in demand and he has not ruled out getting involved.
The Liberal MP for Marguerite-Bourgeoys, Frédéric Beauchemin, continues to say that he is thinking about it, but he should get started soon.
The race for the leadership of the Quebec Liberal Party is scheduled to begin in January 2025. The next Liberal leader will be chosen in the summer of that same year.
