Paul Bocuse is one of the most famous chefs in French gastronomy. For more than 70 years, the cook gave his all behind the stoves. A job that brought him fame. Recognized for his VGE black truffle soup specially concocted in honor of the former President of the Republic, Valéry Giscard d’Estaing, the master chef was at the height of his career before breathing his last, the January 20, 2018, at the age of 91. Suffering from numerous health problems, including Parkinson’s disease, the man who had been voted “cook of the century” by Gault and Millau left behind thousands of tearful fans who still honor his recipes today.

Very discreet about his private life, the chef had nevertheless agreed to talk about his state of health and his daily life in 2005. At the time, he had just undergone heart surgery. “I have three stars. I had three bypasses. And I still have three wives”he confided in the book “Paul Bocuse, The sacred fire”, published by Glénat editions and written by his daughter-in-law Ève-Marie Zizza-Lalu. “I don’t regret anything, except perhaps the pain I caused the women in my life. I hope they will forgive me.”he added after revealing his polygamy.
In total, 3 women have therefore shared the life of Paul Bocuse. Among them, Raymonde, a pretty blonde whom the chef met in Collonges-au-Mont-d’Or, in the Rhône, when she was young. Very much in love, the two lovebirds said “yes” to each other in 1946. Subsequently, Raymone came to join this marriage and finally, Patricia was the third woman to live alongside the cook. “If I calculate the number of years I have been faithful to the three women who have counted in my life, I arrive at 135 years of living together”, explained Paul Bocuse.
