“Osoyoos”, Cédrik St-Onge | The duty

Cédrik St-Onge’s adventure began almost ten years ago with a first EP of songs in English, a realignment towards the French language on a first album (What if I was light years away2019), several changes of collaborators, until he found the right team and the right tone, finally, on this touching Osoyoos, named after a village in British Columbia, his native province. Orchestral folk (string arrangements by Gabriel Desjardins) and rock shining with an elegant retro patina adorn this ten songs co-produced by a musician with sure tastes, Emmanuel Ethier. St-Onge’s voice rides on these grooves diaphanous, the rhythm section (Jérémie Essiambre on drums, Ethier on bass) acting as the center of gravity of the songs, drawing to itself the organ layers and the guitars – this album praises the wide open spaces in front of which escape our thoughts, our dreams, the musician’s text expressing the intangible of our lives. Very pretty.
