The 29-year-old cyclist who died in a road accident in Centre-du-Québec on Saturday evening is Cynthia Marcotte.
Her husband made the announcement on his social networks on Monday. The young woman, who was a nutritionist and dietitian, had built a presence on the web, with more than 30,000 subscribers who followed her advice.
“Saturday evening, on returning from a bike ride, we were hit head-on by a car. Cynthia died of her injuries en route to hospital,” her husband William wrote on his Facebook page.
The 30-year-old man was also injured in this collision on Route 265 in Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes, near Plessisville.
According to information from the Sûreté du Québec, a 45-year-old driver hit the two cyclists who were traveling northbound around 8:30 p.m.
Cynthia Marcotte was notably the author of the book Hunger: how to tame itpublished in 2019.
Her spouse wanted to “personally thank the people who have followed Cynthia over the years. Without your testimonials and your beautiful words of encouragement, she would never have succeeded in doing all that she did, ”he wrote.
