Faced with the lack of Ukrainian soldiers on the front, the controversial law on mobilization has just come into force. In particular, it provides for the lowering of the minimum age from 27 to 25 years.
At the training center of the 3rd Assault Brigade in kyiv (Ukraine), recruits are put to the test. The latter will soon join the Ukrainian army, which is currently understaffed and under pressure in the face of the Russian offensive on Kharkiv (Ukraine). A new law on mobilization has just entered into force on Saturday May 18: it aims to expand recruitment, notably by lowering the age of mobilization from 27 to 25 years, and the granting of generous bonuses to soldiers. .
Rusyn, head of a recruitment center, explains that the profiles of those mobilized have evolved: “Recently, we have had more men in their thirties because before, only young people came to us. We had maybe 15% more men over 30”. With this reform, kyiv hopes to recruit several hundred thousand soldiers.
