(Quebec) The pieces of the puzzle for the formation of the council of ministers of François Legault begin to be placed. Minister of Culture and Communications during the CAQ’s first term, Nathalie Roy is on her way to becoming President of the National Assembly.

She would be the second woman in history to hold this position. PQ Louise Harel presided over the Chamber in 2002-2003. A record number of women were elected on October 3 (58 out of 125).
MP for Montarville since 2012, Nathalie Roy, 58, has expressed interest in the position and Prime Minister François Legault supports her candidacy, according to her cabinet.
No other caquiste would have raised their hand so far; several are waiting for a phone call to be appointed to the Council of Ministers, whose composition will be revealed on Thursday. It would be surprising in the current context if there were other candidates. There is rarely a race for the presidency of the National Assembly within the ruling party – there was one in 2003 among the Liberals. In 2018, the candidacy of François Paradis for the presidency was announced a few days before the formation of the ministerial cabinet.
The opposition parties will be consulted on the candidacy of Nathalie Roy. In June, political analyst Martine Biron, who would become a candidate a few months later and then a CAQ member on October 3, pointed out that the name of Mme Roy was already circulating for the presidency of the National Assembly. On Monday, his candidacy was confirmed to the media, information first revealed by TVA.
