The rock opera Starmania, a musical by Michel Berger and Luc Plamandon, is back on stage.
Under the spotlight, Starmania makes a dazzling comeback, 43 years after its creation by Michel Berger and Luc Plamandon. The troupe has grown to include twelve dancers and six musicians. It is both a return to the original libretto and a rereading of the rock opera. With its unforgettable songs, its legendary performers and its visionary side, Starmania remains cult. The musical was first a record, released in 1978. Many songs have become hits, such as “When we arrive in town”. “One against the other” is the one that made sales take off.
The following year, the record became a show. Daniel Balavoine had to fight to get the role of Johnny Rockfort. The producer would have preferred a rocker like Johnny Hallyday. Daniel Balavoine nevertheless marked the role forever with his unique voice. The succession of 2022 hopes to live up to the origins. By addressing the rise of extremes, sprawling cities, terrorism, homosexuality and even ecology, the show was visionary.
