DEER VALLEY – Quebec’s Chloé Dufour-Lapointe was the only Canadian to qualify for the women’s moguls final at the Deer Valley Freestyle Skiing World Cup on Friday.
Dufour-Lapointe got his hands on the 16th and last place giving access to this final thanks to a score of 67.15. Her sister Justine placed 23rd with a score of 63.53.
Yesterday, also in Deer Valley, Justine and Chloé qualified for the final and finished ninth and 13th, respectively.
Maia Schwinghammer (66.21), Sofiane Gagnon (63.56) and Berkley Brown (63.24) placed 18th, 22nd and 25th.
Australian Jakara Anthony completed this stage in first place with a score of 78.14, ahead of Frenchwoman Perrine Laffont (77.89), winner of the competition presented on Thursday.
Five Canadians will participate in the men’s qualifier later today. They are Mikaël Kingsbury, winner of the event presented yesterday, Gabriel Dufresne, Laurent Dumais, Jordan Kober and Brenden Kelly.
Kingsbury will be looking for a fourth straight win and fifth since the start of the season in moguls. He is in first place in the general classification of the discipline with 492 points, 32 more than the Japanese Ikuma Horishima.
The first 16 at the end of the qualification rounds will participate in Final 1, for both women and men.
Then follow the super finals for women and men, which will bring together the skiers with the six highest scores in Final 1.
