“Masking yourself during New Year’s Eve […]it seems mission impossible, everyone has understood the right barrier gestures”, assures Sunday December 24 on France Inter the infectious disease doctor Benjamin Davido, also Covid referent at the Raymond Poincaré hospital in Garches (Hauts-de-Seine). The doctor reminds us of the advice to follow to protect our loved ones from infectious diseases, the flu, bronchiolitis, or even Covid, a new variant of which has just appeared.

“What we can do to limit […] “insidious transmission” of these diseases, according to Benjamin Davido, “it’s to ventilate spaces”. “Open the window for ten minutes every hour, to avoid […] to keep droplets in suspension”, reminds the infectious disease specialist again. A lesser evil, according to him, if we want to enjoy the holidays: “What we want is to stay healthy and not bother the hospital.”

Benjamin Davido also insists on the reflexes to have in the event of symptoms. “When you cough, when you have a runny nose, you should not hesitate to tell yourself” that we might be sick, he assures us, then “let’s mask ourselves, let’s test ourselves and, if necessary, consult.” Finally, the infectious disease doctor recalls the need to be vaccinated, against Covid, but also the flu. “I believe that we must explain once again that the challenge of public health is to prevent”underlines Benjamin Davido.
