Marlins | Charles Leblanc hits a single, steals a base and scores a run in a win

(Philadelphia) Charles Leblanc singled, stole a base and scored a run on Thursday to help the Miami Marlins win 3-0 over the Philadelphia Phillies.

Posted yesterday at 8:10 p.m.

In the sixth, the 26-year-old Quebecer hit a single before stealing a second base in the big leagues.

The Lavallois then crossed the plate on a double from Lewin Diaz, bringing the score to the final account.

In 11 major league games, Leblanc stands out with a .410 batting average (16 for 39), including a homer.

He hit the safe in all but one of his meetings on August 3 (a 0-for-3 game against the Reds in Miami).

Leblanc has four doubles, five runs scored and two stolen bases.

Edward Cabrera (3-1) allowed just three singles in five and two-thirds innings, striking out six batters.

In the ninth, Tanner Scott allowed two singles and a walk, but got away with two strikeouts and a groundout to first base. He thus collected a 16e rescue.

Scott also had to take it upon himself to end the eighth. With two runners on base, he did so by striking out pinch hitter JT Realmuto.

“It got pretty thrilling at the end. But we were able to get the job done,” Marlins manager Don Mattingly said.

“Tanner makes things thrilling. There aren’t a lot of easy (rescues) but it looks like he gets the job done most of the time,” Mattingly added.

The Marlins will host the Atlanta Braves from Friday to Sunday for a four-game series, including a doubleheader on Saturday.

Bryson Stott had two hits for the Phillies, who had won their last seven games.

Kyle Gibson (7-5) gave up three runs and six hits in six innings.
