Limoges CSP: for Nicolas Lang, “it’s very positive to be able to stay together”

In 100% CSP, captain Nicolas Lang answers all our questions. Starting with those on the bad patch of the team, which before its match on Tuesday in the round of 16 of the French basketball cup, remains on a series of four defeats in the league.

You come out of practice. How did Nicolas Lang go? What’s the vibe?

We trained well. We have been there since Saturday. It’s very positive for us to be able to stay there as a team after a defeat and not just go home with everyone going their own way and only seeing each other in training. It’s very positive to be able to stay together and prepare for this Coupe de France math.

Maybe when we won a few games, we stopped thinking like that

With 48 hours of hindsight, what did you miss on Saturday evening?

Five more solid minutes in the 3rd quarter. We already had a real drop in the 2nd quarter. We let them come back into the game too quickly. A little more solidity when they started putting in some shots. A little more execution. Be a little more solid with the ball. We lost balls and we also missed a few easy shots.

With this series of bad results, Limoges CSP is no longer in the Top 8. Supporters are beginning to worry about a possible non-qualification in the play-offs. What do you think ?

When you’re someone like me who hasn’t set any goals since the start of the season… Because it’s easy at the start of the season to build a team and say we’re going to be Top 8. is a bit simple I think. I have always thought that we had to take the matches one after the other. It’s a completely off-the-cuff phrase, but there’s nothing truer in high-level sport. Maybe when we won a few games, we stopped thinking like that. It’s a shame not to have managed to keep the philosophy that made us correct since the start of the season. You have to manage to keep a cool head and do everything to get back into a more positive spiral. You have to manage to have a certain distance. It’s the only way to bounce back.
