The Île-de-France Region is committed to safety and against recidivism, by voting, Friday, September 23, the launch of the Regional Agency for Works of General Interest (TIG).
21% of crimes and misdemeanors committed in France are in Île de France
Île-de-France concentrates 21% of crimes and misdemeanors committed in France yet, it has only 1,750 open TIG positions. As a result, the lead times for TIG are detrimental (450 days on average).
If done quickly, this penalty is “particularly effective to fight against recidivism since it associates with the sanction, the reparation and the insertion” depending on the region.
The first projects financed from November
The agency ” Ile-de-France JustTIGe has three objectives: to increase the number of TIG positions to reduce turnaround times, to create new TIG pathways to promote reintegration through the acquisition of professional knowledge, and to continue the action of the Île-de- France in favor of a continuum of security by fighting against recidivism.
From next November, the Île-de-France Region will finance three first projects which will make it possible to accommodate 300 tigistes in the forest, in the treatment of waste, in collective catering or with social landlords who will enable them to acquire training in professional sectors in tension.
