Reason given: “difficult market dynamics” in France. Meal delivery giant Just Eat Takeaway announced on Wednesday 20 July, that he was considering parting with 350 salaried deliverers and approximately 40 positions in support functions. In April, the Anglo-Dutch group had already mentioned such a plan, but only mentioned a threat to 269 deliverers on permanent contracts and 23 to 30 positions in support functions, in 20 cities.
The reorganization now concerns the delivery service in 26 French cities. In contrast, “in Paris, we will continue to offer this service with delivery people who are our permanent employees”underlined the company, while specifying that “all of this is currently still an intention and depends on discussions with works councils and trade unions”.
Just Eat Takeaway experienced strong growth with the development of home deliveries favored by the Covid-19 pandemic, but the phenomenon has since subsided. In France, Just Eat dessert 2 500 municipalities. Most Affiliated Restaurants “take charge of the delivery”, depending on the group. But in 27 of these municipalities where it is present, the model is based on employees, for a delivery service offered by Just Eat.
