(Paris) The Dane Jonas Vingegaard, seriously injured in early April during the Tour of the Basque Country, made his first bike ride on Tuesday, affirming in a video that he was “getting better and better”.
“This is the first time I’m cycling outside again, and it’s really nice to be able to ride normally again,” says the two-time winner of the Tour de France in this 45-second message posted on x.
“I feel good, it’s getting better every day. Obviously I hope to be at the start of the Tour de France (June 29, editor’s note), but we don’t know exactly how my convalescence and my return to form will go. I will do everything possible to be there,” he adds, filmed in the middle of the countryside in the racing outfit of his Visma-Lease a bike team, standing next to his bike.
Victim of fractures of the clavicle and several ribs, a pneumothorax and a pulmonary contusion, the 27-year-old runner spent a dozen days in hospital.
