Israel and Hamas at war | B’nai Brith asks MP Haroun Bouazzi to withdraw his comments

(Quebec) A Jewish defense organization asks MP Haroun Bouazzi of Québec solidaire (QS) to withdraw his recent comments on the conflict in Gaza and on Israel.

B’nai Brith judges that Mr. Bouazzi’s statements constitute incitement to hatred.

Last week, the Quebec solidaire MP wrote on the accumulates war crimes, crimes against humanity, ethnic cleansing and which has started a genocidal process a few months ago.

In an interview with The Canadian Press, the Quebec regional director of B’nai Brith, Henry Topas, affirmed that he did not judge that these remarks were anti-Semitic, but that they fueled hatred against the Jewish population of Quebec.

According to him, elected officials have a responsibility before the population and they must use their right to speak wisely.

In a press scrum Tuesday morning, the parliamentary leader of QS, Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois, indicated that he would have written the message differently but that he basically agreed with his MP.

“When I saw such comments, I found that it went beyond the limits, that it went beyond the limits, that it was unjustifiable, but I will let Québec solidaire govern itself,” said the interim leader of the liberal opposition , Marc Tanguay, whose deputies represent a good part of the Jewish community in Montreal.
