Welcoming women with cancer for a few days and free of charge. A solidarity action launched by the owner of a gîte in Lot-et-Garonne. A partnership was born with the League Against Cancer. #TheyHaveTheSolution

Taking a break, going away for a few days, reconnecting with nature is more than a need for women with cancer. It is a necessity. Between family obligations and sometimes heavy treatment, it is not easy to lead the fight against the disease. Some of them even sometimes find themselves isolated because the word cancer is scary.

We have the feeling of being abandoned, of not being understood and yet, despite everything, life goes on. There is family life, professional life.

This fight against the disease, Jean-Pierre lived it for many years alongside his wife. Owner of a gite in the Lot-et-Garonne, he decided to fulfill the wish of his now deceased wife: to welcome a few days for free sick women cancer in his gite, a true haven of peace in nature.

We met dozens and dozens of women in care and we were able to see how many of them were on their own, even sometimes abandoned by their partner.

To sustain his action, Jean-Pierre has established a partnership with La Ligue contre le cancer. The association recognizes the benefits of this revitalizing stay, in peace, surrounded by nature. By resting for a few days in this Moulin de Tarres de Bas, taking care of them, sick women regain their morale and adopt the “fighting spirit”: the fighting spirit, the fierce spirit of going from ‘before whatever happens. To complete the stay of these warriors, reflexology courses will soon be offered.

This great solidarity initiative is welcomed by La Ligue contre le cancer, which in March promotes colorectal cancer screening with “Blue Mars”, as it does every year. This cancer affects 43,000 new people in France every year and kills 18,000. It is the third most common cancer and the 2nd deadliest in men, 3rd in women.
