Friday October 21, Tim Burton, the master of fantasy and poetry, receives the prestigious Lumière 2022 prize at the Lyonnais festival. “Edward Scissorhands”, “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”, all his work is hailed. The striking objects of his filming have also been brought together at the Cinema and Miniatures Museum in Lyon.

At the Cinema and Miniature museum in Lyon (Rhône), iconic pieces, precious testimonies of a personal work, are exhibited. They are now part of popular culture. Batman, The Planet of the Apes or Charlie and the chocolate factoryall of Tim Burton’s art has been summarized in around sixty models, costumes or accessories. “That’s the original glove from the movie (Edward Scissorhands) and what’s special about them is that they were made in triplicate but they’re rubber. There’s no real blades, Johnny Depp was not injured during the scene”reveals Julien Dumont, director of the museum.

Tim Burton has an instantly recognizable style. Many visitors come to visit the exhibition. “My favorite film is Edward Scissorhands. I really like the costume and the fact that there is always a special character, who stands out”, says a fan. The parts are thus recovered and restored, because the studios cannot keep everything. Either the objects are thrown away, or the technicians keep them as souvenirs and are happy to see their objects on display.
