“I have been living in confinement for three years”

Françoise Hardy is one of the most popular singers of her generation. But in recent months, the ex-companion of Jacques Dutronc has decided to move away from the spotlight. Two years ago, doctors diagnosed him with cancer of the lymphatic system. To cure himself, the star had to undergo heavy radiotherapy which caused him countless side effects. In the columns of Parisian last November, his son Thomas Dutronc made rare confidences about him. “She is neither dying nor in danger of death. She just has daily problems, serious discomfort linked to the after-effects of chemo and radiotherapy”, he explained to our colleagues.

In this time of health crisis, caution is in order. For the Sunday newspaper, Françoise Hardy, however, spoke of the pandemic with philosophy. “It has not changed my way of life since, because of the side effects of 45 radiotherapies which crossed my head and of immunotherapy, I have been living in confinement for three years”, explained the interpreter of “Mon Amie La Rose”. “For me, who have always been an anxious person, the pandemic has greatly increased my fears for the future of the world in general, that of those I love in particular.”

Fighting against the disease, Françoise Hardy could not be vaccinated. “She can’t even get the vaccine, because she lacks lymphocytes,” explained Jacques Dutronc for The Parisian. In the turmoil, the support of those close to him was very precious to him.

“Jacques (Dutronc Editor’s note) had a serious problem at the end of 2020 and he had to undergo major surgery. We were very worried. We are still worried about each other”, explained Françoise Hardy for Gala last summer. The singer does not wish “to leave“after the father of the son. “He knows that I especially wouldn’t want to die after him, because I couldn’t bear for him to disappear”, she confessed.
