French actress Sophie Marceau is back on the big screen for the feature film “A woman of our time. For Brut, she talks about her career, her dreams, and her desire to let go.

I realized the enormous place that cinema had in my life.” Sophie Marceau is again on view in the film Une femme de notre temps, by Jean-Paul Civeyrac, in theaters on October 5th. She lends her features to Juliane, a woman whose life changes when she discovers her husband’s double life. Brut interviewed her.

In the midst of the advent of social networks and self-image, Sophie Marceau rather celebrates letting go. “Today, everyone controls themselves, we put filters. But at some point, you gotta let go, because you can’t be in control. It is not possible. You can’t be in control all the time.“For the actress, letting go also means having faith in the unknown. “If we are in control, it is because we are afraid of the outside, of the other. Me, I’m not afraid. On the contrary, I am curious. To control is to close oneself to everything.”

I am not someone who dreams a lot. I have no dreams”, she adds. “I don’t know if it’s my upbringing, my background, we weren’t too much into dreaming, we were into doing it, into ‘go ahead, move your ass, what, if you want to do something, you go, get up, go to work.’ (…) My dream would be to be able to always do, that is to say to keep mobility, curiosity and not be afraid.
