Jane Birkin’s daughter, Charlotte, had recently made a beautiful declaration of love. She had taken a different look at her mother during a documentary. A mother-daughter one-on-one with great tenderness.

Since Charlotte’s early childhood, the camera has invited itself into the intimacy of her family. Her father was a brilliant provocateur and her mother was English, a delicious woman-child. A mother who had remained in the shadows for a long time, whom Charlotte wanted to bring to light by filming her for four years. “I was afraid of her questions, if it was about childhood, if it was things I did wrong, if I hadn’t been the mother she wanted”confided Jane Birkin on this documentary.

“I wanted to film her beauty”

Then Jane let her guard down and gave herself up body and soul. It is then the sensitive portrait of a woman who humorously accepts the passage of time. It is a tribute from a daughter full of admiration for the solar beauty of her mother. “I wanted to film her beauty that I see today, I wanted to take pictures of her skin, (…) I wanted to do something carnal, of what I see”, Charlotte explained.
