A study on the alcohol consumption of the French shows that it has dropped. But one in five residents still exceeds the recommendations. The point with Damien Mascret, on the set of 12/13, Tuesday June 13.
A 2021 survey that has just been published shows that the French consume less alcohol, which is good health news. “Ithere is better to read the survey carried out in 2021 which has just been published. VSis encouraging, because let’s not forget that alcohol is : 41 000 deaths per year in France, but also accidents, violence, cirrhosis of the liver, cardiovascular diseases, brain decline, and also cancers liver, colon, rectum”says Damien Mascret. In 2017 and 2021, there was a real improvement on the three consumption criteria recommended to limit the risks to one’s health.
A half-hearted decline
The first criterion is not to exceed more than two glasses per day. “IThere are fewer people who exceed this limit. We go from 19.2% to 17.8%“, details the doctor and journalist. The second criterion is not to exceed more than ten glasses per week. “VSthose who exceed this limit were 9.7% they are now 8.1%“, continues Damien Mascret. The third criterion is to be able not to drink every day of the week. “7.9% were unable to do so in 2017. This is only the case for 7.1% now”notes the doctor on the set of 12/13.
The numbers are still high. “Iexperts recommend youthree things: return to the Evin law which banned alcohol advertising, support movements like Dry Januarythe alcohol-free month of Januaryand Farea for more identification of at-risk consumption”concludes Damien Mascret.
