Last year was spared from bronchiolitis thanks to the well-respected barrier gestures. This time, the epidemic is indeed back more dangerous than ever a few weeks in advance.

It is an epidemic that we could well have done without. Whereas it had been avoided last year, brochiolite is back and causing damage across France. Only Corsica and Brittany are not yet in the midst of an epidemic. Pediatric services are overwhelmed by the arrival of children with the disease. “He was very congested with a very fatty cough”, describes Anaïs Millet, mother of an eight-day-old child affected by the disease.

In the pediatric department of the Nancy hospital, the crowds are unusual. 20 to 30% more passage in this period of the year. “We are on average at 90 passages, we go up to 110 passages with very small ones coming”, Explain the Professor Cyril Schweitzer, head of the infantile medicine department in Nancy (Meurthe-et-Moselle). The problem arises, there are not enough pediatric nurses. They will therefore have to rely on overtime to be able to manage the epidemic.
