Nearly half a ton of cannabis resin (428 kg) was seized in the Arve valley by the Bonneville research brigade in Haute-Savoie, the gendarmerie announced on Saturday March 12. This represents a market value of 3.2 million euros. The operation took place on March 7 in Cluses and Scionzier, “after a very complex investigative work”. It mobilized 62 soldiers from the Haute-Savoie gendarmerie group, supported by three dog teams, said a press release.
Six people were arrested and taken into custody following this operation. Investigators also seized luxury cars, clothing and watches, large sums of cash and handguns.
Two people remanded in custody
An investigation for flagrante delicto has been opened for drug trafficking under the authority of the Bonneville public prosecutor. At this stage, it has led to the provisional detention of two people. “This operation deals a major blow to organized crime in the Arve Valley”underlines the gendarmerie, which recalls that this territory had experienced during the summer of 2020 a “episode of serious violence (…) which resulted in particular in two assassination attempts and acts of kidnapping”.
