The musician and the Canadian prime minister were filmed on Sunday night singing a duet Bohemian Rhapsody of the band Queen in the lobby of a London hotel. The 14-second video quickly went viral on social media and drew outraged comments in some outlets, including the DailyMail and the Montreal Journal.

On the set of Hi hello Tuesday morning, Gregory Charles judged this reaction “Totally disproportionate”. He believes that people judged without “knowing the context”.

“I recognize people (the right) to have the opinion they want, but I’m surprised because I know what kind of schedule (Trudeau and his team) had. They work, work and work, and at the end of the evening, spend some time with your close guard or your team, I don’t find it irregular, ”said Gregory Charles in an interview with Gino Chouinard.

During this interview, Gregory Charles also lifted the veil on his links with Charles III, whom he met 25 years ago during a tour where the Quebecer acted as host of various evenings.

“I will not make you believe that I am boyfriend with King Charles III, but it worked, it clicked. We had a lot of fun and he made all kinds of jokes. Someone had had a mistake about me, he had taken me for someone else, and he had made him laugh, enormously. He went on stage to say: “I know it’s hard to tell us apart, but he’s Gregory Charles and I’m Prince Charles”. That kind of humor there. So we had a lot of fun there, and every time he came back, he managed to contact Canadian government officials to ask me to go. Every time he came back, I was there. He met my daughter. »

Gregory Charles attended the Queen’s funeral, which he described as “sober and solemn. »
