International aid is flowing to Turkey and Syria after the devastating earthquake. France has released, Thursday, February 9, 12 million euros for Syria announced the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Other countries are helping, notably Greece and Israel.
Greece has lent its support to Turkey, its “enemy sister” in the Aegean Sea. Since 1999, when the earth shook on both sides of the Aegean Sea, “the policy of earthquakes” has often led to spectacular rapprochements between the two nations. Countries exchange doctors or rescue teams if necessary. This time, again, there was a movement of sincere solidarity. In Greece, collections of medicines, clothes, blankets and food were organized spontaneously.
Israel claims to have helped Syria, the Syrian regime denies
Israel, for its part, has announced that it will provide aid to Turkey but also to Syria, a country considered an “enemy” by the Jewish state. In any case, this is what Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu said Monday evening. In front of the deputies of his party, the Likud, he specifies that Israel “received a request coming from a diplomatic source for humanitarian aid in Syria” and that he approved it.
There were no further details on this subject. For its part, Bashar Al-Assad’s regime strongly denied this information. Remember that Syria does not recognize the existence of Israel: the two countries are still in a state of war.
