Golfer Grayson Murray commits suicide

(Los Angeles) American professional golfer Grayson Murray, who died on Saturday at the age of 30, committed suicide, his parents explained on Sunday.

Murray “killed himself,” his parents wrote in a statement describing their “nightmare” of the last 24 hours.

Murray, a two-time winner on the PGA Tour, abruptly withdrew from the Charles Schwab Challenge on Friday.

After his victory in Hawaii in January, the player spoke of problems with alcoholism and mental health.

“I have been ready to give up many times, to let myself down, to give up on golf, and sometimes to give up on life,” he explained at the time.
